World of Final Fantasy introduces a new character and a new premise, establishing it as a new lore distinct from that of previous games.
That new character is Lighting lookalike Ena Kuro. It is Ena who leads Ren and Ran into the Grimoire World, and the promise of regaining their lost memories.
Ren and Ran start their adventure in Cornelia, a town from the firstFinal Fantasy. From there, you can go to Nebra Cave, a nearby dungeon, the Forest of Light, the Valley of Ice, etc. You can take the train to help you travel the world, whose conductor happens to be Cactuar.
Among the characters you will meet among the way are the Warrior of Light, Princess Sarah, and Lighting herself. Lightning plays the role of Savior, and has a special ability called Scene Drive.
Aside from people, there are Protectors, Mirages that have great power. Some Protectors found in the game are Ifrit, Shiva, Ramuh. There are also Mega Mirages like Cerberus, whom you can summon if you trade out your other Mirage Monsters.
You can ride and stack your Mirage Monsters on top of each other using a Stack-Stack system. When stacked, the monsters’ HP and attack power will add up, and they’ll get to use special abilities.
You can also choose to fight some battles with the monsters not stacked on top of each other, and when you do, they’ll recover their AP faster. This also reduces the chances you will lose all of them together if you lose.
World of Final Fantasy will be released on PlayStation 4 and PS Vita in Japan in 2016.
