Square Enix shared new details on King Regis, Lunafreya, and the Chocobos for Final Fantasy XV.
While it seems like Noctis can go out cruising with his friends, the concerns of the world way heavily on both Regis, his father, and Luna, a childhood friend.
As you may already know, the Nilfheim Empire has successfully conquered the world except for Lucis, whose kingdom is protected by a powerful crystal. Regis is the guardian of that crystal, and in his youth he fought with Cid and General Cor. As the crystal guardian, Regis has the ability to summon and wield multiple weapons. As you may have guessed, his age isn’t natural.
Regis is supposed to be much younger, but he has expended his energy towards protecting young Noctis, and that’s taken its toll. Regis has seen much pain, as his wife, and Noctis’ mother, passed on while Noctis was very young.
Lunafreya is one of the most highly revered oracles. Brave and young, her power commands so much respect Nilfheim has had to grant some freedoms to her city, Tenebrae. And yes, Luna and Noctis still made that promise to each other as children, although as to what that promise is has yet to be revealed.
There is a woman figuring behind Luna, named Gentiana. No details regarding her have been revealed.
You cannot raise or breed your own chocobos. You can rent them for 30 days and called anytime. While riding a chocobo, you can jump twice to try to get it to fly. Chocobos you have ridden will linger for a while after you drop off.
Final Fantasy XV is being developed for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
