MultiVersus Principal Developer Talks About The Game

MultiVersus is the latest in a long line of fighting games that are trying to capitalize on the IP that they have and the love that fans have for them. This time around, it’s WB and its characters that are getting into the spotlight, with some rather unique additions being in the game, not the least of which is “Ultra Instinct Shaggy”, Arya Stark from Game of Thrones and more.

Principal Developer Daniel Kraft did an interview about the game and laid out how the dev team tried to make this game both balanced and fun…and why Ultra Instinct Shaggy is there:

“Shaggy was one of the first characters and we really wanted to embrace the culture that’s grown around him. So it just seemed like a good place, also makes for an exciting moveset and kit for a character in the game. So we just went straight ahead with it.”

Fans are definitely glad they did that. As for the rest of the “cast”…

“So with characters, WB’s got this massive library of characters. We want to try to grab as many as we can. It’s just a process. We got to find ones that fit, find ones that work. In some cases, it’s people on the team fight for it. And we just try to make sure that we get the best characters for what we’re needing at the time.

There’s also a lot of game health to kind of consider, “Hey, can we get a character that fills a role for the game that we need?” Or maybe there’s a gap in the game that, “Hey, what character can fit that best?” And so we want to take all those things into consideration to keep pushing the game forward as we keep developing it.”

The game is currently in its Alpha phase, with the beta coming soon enough. So it’ll be intriguing to see how things progress from here.
