September 17, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

Here’s everything you need to know about the Heroes of the Storm Americas Championship.

This weekend, Blizzard is hosting a championship for its popular multiplayer online battle arena game, Heroes of the Storm. The Heroes of the Storm Americas Championship is set to take place in Las Vegas over the weekend, and the entire event will be streamed live over Twitch. You'll want to bookmark that.

Eight of the region's most skilled Heroes of the Storm teams — 5 from North America, 1 from Latin America, 1 from Southeast Asia and 1 from Australia/New Zealand — will fight on September 19 to 20 for a piece of the $100,000 prize pool. The top two teams will then make their way into the World Championships at BlizzCon 2015 on November 6 to 7, where they'll go up against players from the Asia and Europe regions for a $500,000 prize pool.

Here are the teams participating:

  • Cloud9 (North America)
  • COGnitive Gaming (North America)
  • compLexity  (North America)
  • Furious Gaming (Latin America)
  • Murloc Geniuses (North America)
  • Relics (South East Asia)
  • Team Immunity (Australia)
  • Tempo Storm (North America)

For more information about the teams competing in the event, check out this link.

You can check out the competition in person by going to the Las Vegas Convention Center on Saturday, September 19 from 10am to 10pm PT, and Sunday, September 20 from 10am to 7pm PT.

Blizzard reveals that the Heroes used in the final winning game of the Americas Championship will be on sale on September 22, so players interested in trying out these characters will be able to grab them at a discounted price.

In addition to the normal weekly sale, Blizzard will have five additional Heroes available at a discounted price in the North America region. On the following week, beginning September 29, the skins used on those particular Heroes will be discounted in celebration of the winning team.
