The Darkness II Has its Origins Explained

September 26, 2011 by Ian Miles Cheong

A new trailer explaining the origins of the "Darkness" in Digital Extremes' upcoming game has been revealed.

The Darkness is one of the scariest games in recent memory. Although woefully underrated and underplayed, the game managed to leave a significant impact on those who played it with its great story and richly weaved setting.

2KGames and Digital Extremes has put out a new trailer for The Darkness II, asking the question" What is the Darkness?" to explain just what it is.

The Darkness is a force of nature that inhabits the bodies of individuals who believe they wield the power to control it, using it to their own ends—when in fact, it's the other way around.

You play the role of Jackie Estacado, the latest host to the Darkness. Jackie allowed the Darkness to consume him, to do its foul bidding while wielding its supernatural powers. But in Jackie's life remained the sole glimmer of light—his love for Jenny.

The mob, which wants Jackie's head on a plate, went after Jenny and murdered her, giving Jackie every reason to destroy them.

The Darkness II is set for release on February 7, 2012 on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
