Fortnite Releases Update v20.40; New Weapons Are Out and Showdown Week Begins

May 18, 2022 by Jordan Coetsee

Epic Games releases update 20.40 for the Free-to-play Battle Royale Game, Fortnite.

Epic Game’s Fortnite has released the Battle Royale update 20.40. In this exciting update new weapons have been unvaulted, drop rates of unique items have increased and it’s up to you to decide which loot item you would like to enter the pool.

Sideways Showdown week has already begun and will run until the 24th of May 2022. Definitely take a crack at the themed quests during this period. Once again the Sideways Rifle and Minigun have been unvaulted. Players will be able to collect these weapons from chests and upgrade them with Monster parts if they carry them to an upgrade bench.

Downtime for v20.40 has ended. Here’s what’s new!

In Zero Build the drop rate of Shockwave Grenades, Cow Catchers and Rift-To-Gos has been increased. It looks as though things will be this way indefinitely.

Shield bubbles or Balloons make your choice. Across the globe players have the chance to vote on their preferred item by heading to a Funding Station at your nearest P.O.I. and voting to have it added to the loot pool. Votes are in the form of paid Bars. As soon as the item has reached full funding it will be available. So gather your friends and get voting!

In addition Your V-Bucks (purchased on Playstation) can now be used on all platforms that also support the shared wallet feature. This includes P.C, Xbox and Android platforms.

Both Xbox and Playstation 5 have seen optimizations that reduce latency. The process for enabling 120 FPS has been simplified on the Playstation. Check out the included link at the bottom of the article for more info.

In order to improve user experiences, there have been a couple of changes to players’ selected regions around the Middle East. These network changes are to ensure that all players can be on top of their game with minimal network limitations. Anyone whose selected server was “Middle East” will likely see that it’s been reverted to Automatically select a region. Some users may now be connected to European and Asian servers and as a result need to check the competition times for Cup matches. Players are allowed to pick their server but doing so may result in a higher ping rate.

There have also been some bug fixes to know issues and issues related to social notifications while in-game or in a party have been fixed see more at the link below.
