We have exciting news for all the fans of Walker Texas Ranger and Supernatural as the CW has now placed series orders for Supernatural prequel The Winchesters and Walker Texas Ranger prequel Walker: Independence.
This news is very exciting considering Supernatural just wrapped up its final season in 2020 during the COVID breakout. After believing this would be the end of the beloved show, we are lucky to now know the fate of our show is in executive producer, Jensen Ackles’s hands. Jensen will also be returning to his role as Dean Winchester doing a voiceover for this prequel.
It has been rumored that The Winchesters will be the strongest attempt at a Supernatural spinoff series while it also is the first one. We were supposed to get another spin-off years ago called, Supernatural: Bloodlines, but it was not picked up by The CW. There were also rumors of a Wayward Sisters spin-off that never saw the light of day.
The Walker prequel Walker: Independence is written by Seamus Fahey, based on a story by himself and Anna Fricke will be directed by Larry Teng. The show will star Matt Barr and Katherine McNamara while the show is set to take place in the late 1800s. The show will be following Abby Walker, an affluent Bostonian whose husband is murdered before her eyes while on their trip west. While on her path of revenge, Abby comes to meet Hoyt Rawlins, a nice rogue in search of purpose. Both Abby and Hoyt take on the quest that takes them to Independence, Texas, where many troubles and trials come their way.
CBS Studios is behind both Walker and Walker: Independence.
The Winchesters will be provided by a trio, Robbie Thompson, Jensen Ackles and Danneel Ackles, Warner Bros. Television, and CBS Studios. The pilot episode was directed and executive produced by Glen Winter.
Before Sam and Dean were born and the story we all know and love which is Supernatural unfolded, there were their parents, John and Mary. We got to see bits and pieces of their story in Supernatural, but sometimes it just didn’t feel like enough. And fans of Supernatural definitely didn’t have their fill for the beloved show. The Winchesters show is to tell the epic love story of how John and Mary met and how they put it all on the line to save their love for one another…and also the entire world.
Chaos Machine Productions is owned by Jensen and Danneel Ackles, and they have a deal with WBTV which many of us just recently found out about, which is extremely exciting.
Jensen and Danneel Ackles executive produce via their banner Chaos Machine Productions as part of their overall deal with WBTV. Chaos Machine produces in association with Warner Bros. TV and CBS Studios.
