Miasma Chronicles, From Mutant Year Zero Developer Revealed

May 17, 2022 by Paul James

The Bearded Ladies, the team beloved for their work on the 2018 release, Mutant Year Zero: Road To Eden, have today announced their newest game, as the concluding part of the 505 Games Spring Showcase. Titled ‘Miasma Chronicles’, the Swedish Team describes Miasma Chronicles as a tactical adventure set in a post-apocalyptic America ravaged by a “savage force” known as the Miasma.

In full, the official announcement for the game reads,

“In the not-too-distant future. America has been torn apart by a savage force known only as of the ‘Miasma’Meet Elvis, a young man brought to the mining town of Sedentary as a baby. Left by his mother in the care of a robotic older ‘brother’ and given a mysterious glove with which he can control the Miasma. Join the brothers on a quest across a post-apocalyptic wasteland to find the answers they crave. Answers which may change the course of human history forever.

• Real-time exploration gameplay meets tactical, turn-based combat with RPG elements.
• Explore rich beautiful environments meeting outlandish characters.
• Upgradable weapons and abilities give your heroes the edge in combat.
• An involving fantasy story through which you learn the truth behind the Miasma.

From the creators of Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, comes a beautifully crafted tactical adventure you won’t forget.”

The Bearded Ladies have been quite proflic in recent years with their debut work, Mutant Year Zero: Road To Eden launch in December of 2018, which was then supported by DLC in 2019. In 2020 the team launched the not as well-received Corruption 2029, before turning their sights to what has become Miasma Chronicles. Indicating their faith in the title, 505 Games opted to make Miasma Chronicles the “One More Thing” moment of their presentation following trailers for Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising, as well as fellow new titles Among The Trolls and Stray Blade. No gameplay was shown, so players will need to extrapolate from the aforementioned description and the trailer if they wish to envisage what the playing experience will be like.

Miasma Chronicles is currently listed as launching in 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
