Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain Trophy & Unlockable Guide

September 1, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

These MGS V guides will help you recruit Quiet and D-Dog.

If you've picked up Hideo Kojima's recently released masterpiece, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, then you'll probably want to know how to acquire some of the game's unlockable items and achievements.

The good folks at PowerPyx have put together a series of guides for MGS V with instructions on how to acquire the Speechless trophy/achievement that you'll get for recruiting Quiet, the game's prodigious sniper character who doesn't talk very much.

There's a couple of steps involved in getting her to join you, and it's quite easy to mess it up.

At the end of Mission 11, don't kill Quiet. Seriously, I don't know why this needs to be said, but don't kill her when you have your gun held to her head. If you kill her however, you'll have to replay the mission and that would be a waste of time.

Once done, take on Mission 14 and you'll unlock Side Op 111: Visit Quiet. Do so. Visit her at the medical platform. WHen you arrive at the helipad, go downstairs to find her cell. Once you call back the helicopter to leave the area, you'll see a cutscene with Quiet, who will join you on missions as a buddy.

They also have a guide on how to recruit the ever lovable D-Dog for the Cry Havoc trophy/achievement.

You'll first encounter D-Dog as a puppy during the start of Mission 4. Fulton extract him in the landing zone right where you depart the helicopter. Once you've completed the mission, return to mother base and you'll see a cutscene with the dog.

To get him to join you on missions, you'll need to complete Missions 7, 8, 9, 10 and and two of any other missions and you'll find that some time has passed and D-Dog is all grown up and available as a buddy.

Beyond achievement guides, PowerPyx is also putting together a series of walkthroughs for the game. Check them out.
