Dead by Daylight Leak Reveals New Killer, The Dredge

May 9, 2022 by Carley Garcia

He’s just running after you to return your wallet, I promise.

Over the past six years, the asymmetric survival horror title Dead by Daylight has introduced a plethora of terrifying villains. Pulling from slasher film mainstays like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and A Nightmare on Elm Street, the game has also introduced popular game villains like Pyramid Head from Silent Hill into the mix. According to a post made on the game’s subreddit, players can look forward to a horrifying new killer being introduced in Dead by Daylight Chapter 24. Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to The Dredge.

Allegedly 6th anniversary chapter leak from deadbydaylight

Many players have chimed in, stating that the creepy new killer looks very much like a monster from Amnesia. The creature’s abilities were also part of the leak, with the post mentioning how The Dredge will be “difficult to shake” and next to “impossible” to outrun once the sun sets.

The Dredge will also have the ability to teleport. That’s terrifying on its own, but the leak specifies that the new killer will be able to teleport INTO a locker. For those who aren’t familiar with the game, lockers are typically just a hiding spot for survivors.

The Dead by Daylight 6th anniversary live stream is scheduled for May 17.

In March, the game introduced Sadako from The Ring as a new killer. The collaboration pulled from both the 1998 Japanese film adaptation and Koji Suzuki’s original novel on which the film was based.

“Ringu introduces psychological horror to our game, which is very different from the slasher style our fans are used to. They can expect Sadako to come with creepy and surprising gameplay mechanics that are not found in other Killers. Survivors beware, she will freak you out,” said creative director Dave Richard.

Dead by Daylight was originally released for the PC in 2016. In 2017, the game made its way to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and was added to the Nintendo Switch library in 2019. The new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S editions were released in November 2020. It is also available on iOS and Android devices.

A Dead by Daylight board game, developed by Level 99, was announced in March.
