Blizzard has announced that the TeSPA Collegiate Hearthstone Championship is returning this fall with a new format, along with some legendary rewards for participants. This marks Hearthstone's third collegiate championship event in North America.
The championship is being produced in partnership between Blizzard and Twitch, and invites students from schools all across North America to participate in a new team format with more than $100,000 in scholarship money up for grabs. That's up from $5,000 in the last Open in 2014.
Each participating team will consist of three students playing one deck together at the same time. It's a format designed to foster school affinity, encourage teamwork, and support the growth of local gaming communities.
The competition will span across a period of nine weeks, featuring a weekly broadcast two nights a week on Twitch.
Students interested in participating can register for the tournament starting today through Friday, September 25 at the official TeSPA website. Additional information about team requirements, season play, playoffs, and the championship can also be found on the site.
