The first ever image of Michael Fassbender, best known for his roles in Prometheus and X-Men: Days of Future Past, in costume for his upcoming role in the Assassin's Creed movie has been released. He stars alongside Marion Cotillard, Michael Kenneth Williams, and Ariane Labed.
The image was given to Yahoo!, showing Fassbender in his role as Callum Lynch, a character created specifically for the movie. Accordingly, the Hollywood adaptation of Ubisoft's popular series of games will introduce a host of new characters set in the same universe as Ezio and Altair.
As far as the story goes, Callum Lynch discovers that he is a descendent of the Assassins and possesses the genetic memories of Aguilar, a Spanish assassin from the 15th Century.
Not unlike the game series' Desmond Miles, Lynch faces the Knights Templar in the present day, equipped with skills bestowed upon him by Aguilar's genetic memory.
The movie is set to open in theaters on December 21, 2016. Filming is set in Malta, London, and Spain.
