Lara Croft will be able to make her way through various missions in Rise of the Tomb Raider without killing a single target, developer Crystal Dynamics shared in a new video today.
The video shows the same mission shown at the Microsoft Gamescom 2015 press briefing, but played through without killing any of the enemies in the area. The player sneaks by every person, sometimes throwing objects or shooting arrows at walls in order to distract enemies, giving them the opportunity to crawl right by.
In is unknown if this means that the entirety of Rise of the Tomb Raider will be playable without killing a single person, but creative director Noah Hughes says in the video, “We’ve built our combat to offer players as many choices as possible and, in this case, it’s possible for Lara to make her way through the area with zero kills. Of course, sometimes combat is unavoidable, but how you approach combat in Rise of the Tomb Raider is often up to you,” suggesting not all sections of the game can be played non-lethally.
Early last week, Microsoft released a 13-minute demo of Rise of the Tomb Raider that showed Lara actually raiding a tomb.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is a sequel to 2013’s reboot of the franchise and character simply titled Tomb Raider and will be released on Nov. 10 for Xbox One and Xbox 360 with PC and PlayStation 4 releases to follow sometime next year.
