Just Cause 3’s Gameplay Demo Shows Off the Wingsuit and Combat

August 18, 2015 by Stephen Daly

This is what you’ll get up to in the game’s challenge mode.

Avalanche Studios has released the gamescom Challenge Mode demo for Just Cause 3 with game director Roland Lesterlin guiding events in the footage above.

the demo begins with a wingsuit mission which sees players guide Rico through a series of rings. The closer you are to the centre of a ring as you pass through it the better, as you're get a higher score, while blue rings can be used to unlock score accumulators. You'll be able to compete in online leaderboards against friends as you play.

Players can also collect gears to open 'mods' which is the game's upgrade system. Mods allow you to make various improvements to the wingsuit (faster acceleration for example) and other systems. Some rings are placed close to the ground and you'll get a bonus for flying through those in the right place.

Next, Lesterlin showed off Destruction Frenzy, which becomes available after you liberate a base. Once you've done so, you can go back and reconstitute all the chaos objects there. As the name suggests, you're then given something to blow up that base with. In the demo Rico has an unlimited RPG and the timers starts ticking as soon as he completely destroys the first object. During Destruction Frenzy Rico can use all of his other abilities as well, including the parachute and a helicopter to hit satellite dishes and other objects in the environment.

Just Cause 3 launches on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on December 1st.
