Microsoft has remade 2006's most notable video game trailer: that of Epic Games' grim Xbox 360 shooter Gears of War, to mark the game's Ultimate Edition re-release on Xbox One.
The trailer deploys Gary Jules' Mad World to quite startling effect. Many other video games marketers followed suit – using music that didn't quite match with the gameplay depicted – to promote their own games although few have managed to do so quite as convincingly as Microsoft did here.
Gears of War Ultimate Edition drops on August 28th and includes codes for the other games in the Gears of War franchise to be downloaded through the Xbox One's backwards compatibility feature.
