Overwatch 2 Reveals Sojourn Gameplay Trailer

April 18, 2022 by Alexandra Nicholson

One of the new heroes due to be included in the launch of the upcoming competitive shooter Overwatch 2 has been revealed in a bit more detail. Sojourn, also known as Acting Commander Vivian Chase, is a new playable hero that will feature in Overwatch 2, which is about to enter into Closed Beta on April 26th.

Ahead of this, Blizzard has released some further information on the game’s new hero. This includes two videos to get players up to speed on both Sojourn’s origin story and also her gameplay mechanics. Check out the origin story trailer below, which reveals how she’s a former commander of the Canadian Special Forces who teamed up with Overwatch previously and is enhanced with special cybernetic abilities.

In addition, eager Overwatch fans can check out the accompanying video that showcases some of Sojourn’s unique skills and abilities in-game. It was recently revealed on the Overwatch blog that Sojourn was designed as a mid-range character, whose main weapon is a huge railgun, although she has an impressive arsenal of other artillery to use alongside it.

Sojourn’s character is reflected in her playstyle, according to Narrative Designer Miranda Moyer, who explains that “Sojourn’s someone who is super detail-oriented and thorough, which I think leans into her kit being accuracy-heavy. She is a brilliant tactician and definitely a ‘measure twice, cut once’ kind of person.”

In terms of mechanics, Sojourn’s been designed to work for players of varying levels of skill, with a focus on mobility and AoE attacks such as the Disruptor Shot, which snares enemies and eats away at their health. This pairs up well with the effectiveness of the Railgun, which rewards accuracy of aim through better damage.

The character also makes use of a Power Slide, which enhances her mobility in-game through rocket power that’s ” baked into her cybernetic body,” according to Moyer. This makes Sojourn a great choice if your preference is for a high-mobility character.

Last but not least is Sojourn’s Ultimate ability, which is called Overclock. When activated, this automatically charges her Railgun’s energy for a short duration and allows her shots to pierce enemies.

Overwatch 2 is entering Closed Beta on April 26th. If you’d like to take part in the testing, you can still opt-in now via the official website.
