Blizzard Files Trademark For Compete, And You Won’t Expect What It Is

August 11, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

It’s definitely something Blizzard’s esports worthy games could benefit from.

Blizzard seems to have filed a new trademark for a new feature that will bolster their position in the eSports world.

Compete is described as an eSports tournament creation system, that will allow fans to organize tournaments on their own. Here’s the full description from the application:

Providing an online non-downloadable Internet-based system application featuring technology enabling users to organize and promote e-sports tournaments, to create and customize tournament brackets and ladders, track tournament progress, maintain related statistics, and post results.

Blizzard’s solid lineup of eSports worthy games include Heroes of the Storm, Hearthstone, and of course, StarCraft 2. Knowing all this, an easy eSports creation tool is a no-brainer, and it’s likely competitors will watch and see how well it does before they release their own tools as well.

Are you a fan of Blizzard’s esports worthy games? Will you be using Compete? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
