Splatoon’s latest datamine is here, and with it comes a long awaited and highly requested feature: playable Octolings!
There is no point denying this for sure. Fans were able to use the data and actually play as an Octoling in private one on one matches. The playable Octoling model fans found so far have her as a female, with the adorable pink tentacle hair and ink. She also seems to be wearing a visor, on top of the same casual wear the Inklings wear. All evidence points to her being indistinguishable from the other Inklings.
The datamine also yielded information on new weapons, but most of these are simply variations on the latest two weapons, the Splatling and the Slosher. There will be a Mini Splatling, with presumably faster spray and requiring more frequent reloads. There will be an even more ridiculous Tri-Slosher, which splits the ink into three for wider spread. There is a Hydra Splatling, which promises to be an overpowered version of the mobile gatling gun. Finally, and this should be no surprise at this point, there is an Octoshot replica, which means all the Inklings will get to use that weapon the Octolings used on them. There are also decorated/themed versions of some of these weapons, which don’t seem to affect gameplay.
But that’s not all, as there are also new maps in the way. One map seems to be set in an apartment complex, while another one is on a bridge that seems to be under construction. EAD certainly have not run out of creative ideas yet.
