Super Smash Bros Mewtwo Amiibo Release Date Revealed

August 6, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

This amiibo passed on being shown at E3, but many fans clearly think it is worth the wait.

Nintendo of Europe has confirmed that the Mewtwo amiibo will launch on October 23 in this year’s Gamescom.

This amiibo passed on being shown at E3, but made his public debut at SDCC. Mewtwo is the first Super Smash Bros DLC character that becomes an amiibo, and as a Pokemon he is doubly sought after.

While October seems so far away, Nintendo has stretched out the releases of all the Smash related amiibo, simply due to the intimidating number of characters. Of course, it was these amiibo that sold 10.5 million units in less than a year, helping propel Nintendo’s return to profitability.

Nintendo seems to finally be catching up to demand for the highly sought after figures, but with Mewtwo, they may once again run into issues dealing with scalpers eager to buy up all the stock and resell at a huge markup.

Do you think Nintendo is finally ready to deal with consumer demand for the Mewtwo amiibo, or should they go above and beyond what they have so far and make even more stock than usual just for Mewtwo? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
