Firesprite Making A New AAA Narrative-Based Horror Game

March 31, 2022 by Alexandra Nicholson

It seems that Sony’s newly-acquired studio Firesprite is currently working on a AAA horror game, according to a job listing advertised by the team. First spotted on ResetEra, the job advert explains that the Firesprite team are currently hunting for a Narrative Director to help them develop their new game. The listing explains that the title in development will be “a AAA narrative driven horror-adventure game in Unreal 5.”

Although there aren’t any further details to be deduced on what this new horror game might be, it’s clear that the studio is looking for an experienced Narrative Director to help them shape their vision for the project. The advert specifies that they’re hunting for someone with ‘veteran’ levels of experience in game writing/narrative direction.

The Narrative Director is responsible for the project storytelling, helping establish & consider the game’s universe and lore, with responsibility for the quality implementation of narrative content for project milestones and ultimately the game’s release.

Firesprite

Firesprite is a Liverpool-based studio and was acquired by Sony in September last year. While they’re clearly keeping details about this new project quiet for now, this latest job advert is sure to create some speculation about what kind of game this will be. Whether or not it will be a new Sony IP or the next chapter in an ongoing game series is as yet unknown.

Firesprite is also currently working in partnership with Guerilla Games on Horizon Call Of The Mountain, an upcoming VR experience that forms part of the Horizon games franchise. Additionally, the studio is also working on Star Citizen: Theaters Of War (working title), in a co-development project with Cloud Imperium Games.

It looks as though there’ll be plenty to come from this studio, so we’ll be keeping an eye out for further information about this new AAA horror game.
