The Complete Prologue of Dark Souls Reveals The Story’s Origins

September 15, 2011 by Ian Miles Cheong

This first cinematic of Dark Souls explains the origins of the world within the game.

Dark Souls may well be the scariest game on the console that isn't explicitly a survival horror title. Designed as an RPG with heavy survival elements, Dark Souls—like its predecessor Demon's Souls—is set to be a brutal experience that tries your skills in ways that most other games wouldn't even dare to.

Namco Bandai released a brand new trailer of Dark Souls for the Tokyo Game Show, which contains its complete prologue. It speaks of the souls who have emerged to claim the earth from the dragons who once ruled it.

"In the age of the ancients, the world was cold and unformed and ruled by everlasting dragons. Then came the flame and disparity with it…

The soul of Lords were in the flames… Nit, the first of the dead, the witch of Izarith and her evil daughters, the Lord Gwen and his knights…

With the strength of Lords, they challenged the Dragons…and the Dragons were no more…"

Dark Souls is planned as an Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 release on October 7, 2011.
