Monster Hunter X is ramping up the complexity on the franchise, as Capcom revealed in a livestream from yesterday. We have some video from the livestream courtesy of ArekkzGaming, whom you can subscribe to here.
So, aside from each weapon requiring the player to learn a different play style, there are now four fighting styles that you can use on all of Monster Hunter X’s fourteen weapons.
There is Guild style, which allows you to use the weapon as you could in previous games. There is an aerial style which will let you strike with any of the weapons while jumping. There is one style that is designed around counters. Finally, there is a mystery style that will involve using super moves. Jumping while attacking and blocking limited to only some weapons in previous Monster Hunter games. This change really will allow you to play any way you want.
Monster Hunter X will introduce Beruna Village, and will return Yukumo,Pokke, and Kokoto.
The cross in Monster Hunter X is indicative of many of these elements. It will have four fighting styles, four villages, and four main monsters, crossing in old and new elements to create something new.
Monster Hunter X is confirmed for Japan in November 28, and Capcom will have a Monster Hunter X Special Package, which will include a special Monster Hunter X themed 3DS XL and a copy of the game. There will also be two Monster Hunter X 3DS themes.
Monster Hunter hit a landmark by selling one million units in the West, so even though there is no confirmation, Monster Hunter X is most likely coming to the West eventually. In the meantime, you can watch 26 minutes of gameplay courtesy ArekkzGaming above.
