Ubisoft teases a special announcement for The Crew 2 on 3/11

March 10, 2022 by A.K Rahming

The race isn’t over yet.

Ubisoft’s Ivory Tower team has been supporting The Crew 2 for the last half-decade at this point. The open-world racer first launched within months of Microsoft’s Forza Horizon 4 all the way back in 2017, and it’s still chugging along to this day. Now, it seems that there’s a big bend on the horizon as it relates to the game’s future.

The official Twitter account for The Crew 2 posted an ambiguous tweet recently, telling its followers to “tune in” on March 11 to learn more about “the future of The Crew 2.

We will have more to share about the future of The Crew 2 🏎️

Since Ubisoft hasn’t provided any hints for exactly what the future has in store, for now all one can do is speculate.

Considering that its service life has been so long, perhaps this announcement could be that production will slow down. Or, maybe there might be a tease of a new sequel. After all, Playground just launched Forza Horizon 5 last year (after spending an extra year working on it), so perhaps the team at Ivory Tower might be poised to really consider moving ahead with a new project of their own.

Or, this very could all well be an announcement of even more updates for The Crew 2 as we know it. It’s continually been receiving new events and vehicles in an effort to keep its user base engaged.

While its popularity certainly still pales in comparison to that of the Forza Horizon franchise, there clearly still must be a large enough consumer base to justify all these years of support.

Either way, we’ll know in just a matter of hours exactly what Ubisoft has in store.

The Crew 2 features an expansive open-world map of the USA that encompasses all of the contiguous states in a condensed form. In the game, players take control of not only cars, but also powerboats, airplanes and more in order to compete in various events that result them in garnering more followers and cash. It’s currently available on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Google Stadia.
