Farming Simulator 20 gets new free content on Switch with Update #9

March 8, 2022 by A.K Rahming

New toys.

Farming Simulator 20 may have been released a good while ago on the Nintendo Switch, but the team over at Giants Software is still cranking out new content updates every so often.

In this ninth content update for Farming Simulator 20, two pieces of new machinery have been rolled out onto the lot. This includes two new options from Nordic manufacturer Kverneland.

The two new implements are the IXTRACK T4 and IXTER B18 sprayers. The T4 is its own unit with rolling wheels, while the B18 can be hitched onto a tractor and can be combined with an external supplementary tank.

These sprayers are used to spray liquid fertilizer onto the field, thus improving crop yield. The incredibly large width of their extending spray arms will make quick work of even larger fields.

In addition to supplying Farming Simulator 20 with new machines, this update also brings with it some “small bug fixes and optimizations” to further improve the user experience.

Farming Simulator 20 first dropped onto the Switch back in 2019. It’s not as feature-rich as Farming Simulator 19 on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and continues to pale in comparison to that of the recently released Farming Simulator 22 which dropped back in November 2021. Despite the simpler gameplay mechanics and features, it’s still a relatively competent sim title and is certainly one of the better ones on the hybrid.

Giants is obviously pleased with its performance considering the continued advertisements and content updates; small as they might be. All things considered, it does seem the Switch will have to stick with this stripped-down, mobile-focused version of Farming Simulator for the foreseeable future. Its sibling, Farming Simulator 22 is where most of the major advancements for the franchise are being focused.

Giants’ cycle of bi-annual rotations between the mobile and console/PC releases was broken last year when Farming Simulator 22 released after an uncharacteristically long development cycle that lasted three years instead of two. There’s not yet word on if a new mobile release will come this year, thus restarting the cycle.
