Uncharted 3’s Plane Chase Inspired Mission Impossible 5 Scene

July 14, 2015 by Stephen Daly

Drake’s Deception director says news ‘made my month’.

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation's plane chase scene was inspired by the one in the Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception.

In Naughty Dog's game, Nathan Drake follows a cargo plane, manages to get inside, and then attempts to climb his way up the plane as it descends. While not quite as iconic as the train scene in Uncharted 2, it remains a key highlight in the series.

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation director Christopher McQuarrie confirmed Naughty Dog helped inspire the chase scene in the movie when asked by a fan on Twitter:

Group effort/Uncharted. #McQandA https://t.co/BMCgMl7Yeu

Uncharted 3 game director Justin Richmond was pretty happy to hear the news:

@chrismcquarrie @NickFromHamburg you just made my month.
