Rumor: Elden Ring Secret Arena Points to Upcoming DLC

March 7, 2022 by Carley Garcia

No DLC plans have been officially announced yet.

Elden Ring is smashing gaming records, teaching players how to deal with death after death, and taking over social media with no end in sight. According to prominent dataminer and modder Lance McDonald, the future might hold even more content for fans to enjoy with the addition of new DLC.

By using a mod to go out of bounds, McDonald discovered a massive, inaccessible arena that may signify upcoming multiplayer content. Some players have have already found the exterior of this colusseum, though approaching it spawns a hostile invader. While Elden Ring doesn’t yet feature competitive one-on-one multiplayer duels, other games in the series have featured such content.

Check out the video of the hidden area below:

After strolling through a long, windy corridor, the character emerges into a huge arena with a number of entrances, weapons sticking out of the ground at strategic points, and tiered seating for whoever wants to watch some absolutely wicked combat. It’s worth noting that a few identical arenas exist throughout the numerous regions of Elden Ring, and none of them are accessible quite yet.

The Souls series has never shied away from post-launch DLC, from the original Dark Souls getting Artorias of the Abyss and Dark Souls 3 fans being blessed with Ashes of Ariandel and The Ringed City. The first DLC for Dark Souls 3 actually included a similar-looking PvP arena.

Bandai Namco and FromSoftware haven’t yet announced DLC in an official capacity, so it’s important to remember that this is just a rumor. But taking everything into consideration, it looks like more content is coming down the pipeline.

Elden Ring was officially released worldwide on February 25 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Two days prior to release, the game became the highest-rated game ever on Opencritic. If you’re dying a lot, game creator Hidetaka Miyazaki wants you to know that “hardship gives meaning to the experience.” It’s all part of the fun.
