Overwatch: Soldier 76’s Identity And Origin Revealed

Have you ever wondered about the origins of Soldier 76 in Overwatch? Blizzard have shared a new video that reveals his origin story, and as it turns out, he’s close to the story’s core.

What Blizzard previously revealed of Soldier 76 is he is a mysterious vigilante, attacking corporations and financial companies, as well as Overwatch facilities, apparently striking out to reveal why Overwatch collapsed. It has been observed that he displays the traits of a member of the state’s soldier enhancement program, and a facility with Overwatch weapons he pilfered. In fact, some believe he is a former Overwatch agent himself.

Soldier 76 is Jack Morrison, the former head of Overwatch. He was in charge for 20 years, and was responsible when they ended the Omni crisis. In the fallout of the Omni crisis, when criminal activity spread around the world, Jack was blamed and almost sacked. Worse, he was there when Overwatch headquarters was struck down.

In truth, people think Jack is dead. Not even his former friends and teammates know he is alive. The rumors were true. Today, he strikes as a vigilante, seeking to uncover and out the conspiracy that took down the organization the first time.

Overwatch is planned for Windows and Mac OS.
