Splatoon Datamined, Rainmaker Mode Revealed, 33 Weapons and Two More Maps To Reveal

June 22, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Rainmaker is Splatoon’s adaptation of Capture The Flag mode.

Still wondering how much more content Nintendo has lined up for time releasing on Splatoon? Wonder no more, as fans have datamined the Splatoon disc to verify what awaits loyal players.

The disc shipped with 10 maps, only two of which have not been revealed yet. There are also 33 more weapons, with descriptions for many of them, and complete details on Rainmaker mode.

Let’s start with Rainmaker mode first. Basically, it’s an adaptation of Capture The Flag. The objective is to grab the Rainmaker and take it to the other team’s base. The Rainmaker has a shield you need to clear, and there is a set time to bring it to base. If you fail to get the Rainmaker there in time or you get splatted first, it will drop and the shield will reactivate.

The Rainmaker can be used like an Inkzooka, but it’s also heavy, so much that you won’t be able to super jump carrying it. In case no team gets the Rainmaker to their enemy base in time, the team who got it closest wins.

The two unreleased maps are called Camp and Skyscraper. As you can imagine, Skyscraper is a riflesquid’s dream. Several levels of elevation, with long bridges in between them. Players stuck at the bottom are sure to be in trouble, and yet painting that part may mean the difference between victory and defeat.

We’ll list the weapons below. Of course, not even this represents the full range of Splatoon’s content, as Nintendo has committed to continuing to provide content to their most successful games. Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros have received such treatment, and Splatoon is certain to receive the same.

Did you pick up on Splatoon again after E3? Do you think all this content will keep you playing? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
