Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Specialists System Explained

June 21, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Specialists goes beyond letting you customize your character.

Activision and Treyarch have shared a new brief video shedding light on the Specialists System for Call of Duty Black Ops 3.

Specialists started out quite simple; a way to allow players to customize their characters. Of course, the characters in the main story campaign would epitomize the system, by having their traits and characteristics be manifested with it.

However, Treyarch thought about how these traits and characteristics could translate within the game’s mechanics itself, and then they did something crazy. They actually went ahead and did it.

And so, gameplay mechanics are tied in with the different Specialists. Treyarch did this in such a way that you could choose to play characters based on what mechanics they have. To add to that, they have Specialist weapons that only that type of Specialist can get. Similarly, there are limited time abilities that unique to each Specialist.

Abiltiies are easier to earn than weapons, which are not subtle at all about how they provide power. Earning both is a matter of raising score from matches, as well as killstreaks among other things.

To end, Treyarch explained that high level players are not going to end up overpowered in the game. Even if you have the best weapons and activated the best abilities, these are balanced out by specific risks. You will have to be tactical and choose when and where to use which weapon and ability.

Call of Duty Black Ops 3 will be released on November 6, 2015 on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Windows.
