Hollowpoint’s E3 Teaser Trailer Shows a Grim Co-op Future

June 10, 2015 by Stephen Daly

Four player co-op and procedurally generated levels are the order of the day.

Set in 2084, Hollowpoint is a co-op side-scrolling 2D action game following the adventures of corporate-controlled mercenary bands.

In the game's grim future, mass worldwide economic problems caused by AI and robots replacing workers, World War III, a second American Civil War, and extreme storms have crippled governments, leaving only powerful corporations to try to piece the world back together, while advancing their own interests, of course.

These corporations hire Hollowpoint mercenaries because, as the trailer tells us, "human life is cheap". Players need to develop a squad and improve individual abilities in order to unlock the best weapons and gear. Equipment can be upgraded and players have the option to join up to three other players online.

Developed by Crackdown 2 maker Ruffian Games, Hollowpoint, first announced at gamescom in 2014, is coming to PC via Steam and PS4 with procedurally generated levels.
