Cyberpunk 2077 Takes Story-Rich Steam Award For 2021

January 4, 2022 by Dennis Patrick

Cyberpunk 2077 fans were thrilled over the narrative.

Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most anticipated video games to have come out in 2020. It was delayed several times, but CD Projekt Red eventually hit the marketplace in December. Unfortunately, the game was filled with bugs and technical issues. There were so many game-breaking issues, but you’ll find that there was still plenty of players enjoying the game. In 2021, the game was one of the most played games, according to Steam.

As a result, there were enough players interested in the game and its narrative. During Steam’s latest year of game awards, where users can vote on games to win in various categories, Cyberpunk 2077 came out on top. The category for the best story-rich game went to Cyberpunk 2077. While the game was filled with plenty of bugs and technical issues, quite a few fans were thrilled over the story it told and the characters you met along the journey.

We couldn't have asked for a better start to 2022. Thank you for voting #Cyberpunk2077 the winner in the "Outstanding Story-Rich Game" category! 💛 pic.twitter.com/juWl2Uhscj

We’re sure you’re familiar with Cyberpunk 2077 by now. The game was such a hugely anticipated release especially because of the development team. These were the folks who handled The Witcher franchise. Of course, the game was quickly known for its slew of technical issues and bugs that broke players’ immersion. Fortunately, the developers have been going back to fix these issues through a series of patches and updates.

Now, the focus in 2022 is to see where CD Projekt Red takes Cyberpunk 2077 next. The game is still receiving bug fixes, but we’re just starting to receive the promised free DLC. Likewise, there are expansions that were coming out, although everything got pushed back to allow developers more time to fix up the game bugs. In fact, there was a recent supposed leak circulating online that suggested the first expansion would bring in new factions. Although, right now, we’re left waiting on the official announcement to come out regarding the first expansion release.
