A new trailer for Rise of the Tomb Raider has been revealed, with a new gameplay element you may not have expected.
The trailer depicts Lara Croft trekking up a snowy mountain, inch by inch. There are no bad guys or wild animals chasing her here. This time, Lara’s enemies are the elements itself.
The Tomb Raider series were traditionally known for their action and puzzle elements. However, the 2013 reboot tweaked that formula with a mix of action adventure, exploration, and survival, to create a unique new way to play.
This lonely mountain trek seems to more closely hew to the game’s survival / QTE action elements, but of course, we don’t know how this section will play out completely just quite yet.
Rise of the Tomb Raider will be releasing on Xbox One later this year.
