Battlefield 3 Unlocks May take 100 Hours of Playtime

September 6, 2011 by Ian Miles Cheong

Battlefield 3 is sure to sap the time of any devoted player, needing a good hundred hours of playtime to unlock every item available in multiplayer.

DICE has revealed that every character class in Battlefield 3 may take a significant amount of time to unlock, up to a total of 100 hours for every single item available.

"If you unlock every weapon, every gadget, and every unlock for every weapon… something like 100 hours," said senior gameplay designer Alan Kertz on his Twitter account.

The studio has not yet revealed how long the single player campaign will take to complete, nor should it matter, but Karl Magnus Troedsson estimated the campaign at 12 hours in length—making it at least three times longer than Modern Warfare 2 and double that of Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Needless to say, the upcoming military FPS will require a significant investment of time for players who intend to give it their all, especially in multiplayer.

Battlefield 3 is set for a simultaneous release on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 25.
