Elden Ring Spoilers Leaked After Network Test Datamine

December 16, 2021 by Carley Garcia

Guard yourself from the plot leaks!

Some people truly enjoy watching the world burn, and those keeping up-to-date with 2022’s most hyped title Elden Ring might want to start taking some precautions. November’s closed network test of the upcoming game has been datamined, and thousands of voice lines and story details are now making their way around the internet. Those wanting to go into the game blind need to watch out, as these story details even include endgame content.

The dataminers were able to regain access to the network test after hackers managed to jailbreak PlayStation 4 hardware to run unauthorized copies of the game. While the detailed leaks are far from funny, some madman also modded CJ from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas into Elden Ring as a playable character. That person is forgiven.

Thankfully, the Elden Ring subreddit has banned any discussion of the newly-datamined content, with the moderators stating “unceremoniously spoiling plot points, mechanics and systems long before these are ready for launch is not something this sub will support.”

The game will take place in a world called the Lands Between, and much of the game’s plot was developed by George R. R. Martin of Game of Thrones fame. Martin has stated that he finished work on the title years ago.

“I worked up a fairly detailed background for them and then they took it from there. So really it’s been several years since I last saw them but they would come and periodically show me some monsters they’d designed or the latest special effects, or [other] cool things. The game has been slowly developing and now it’s coming out in January, I believe, so I’ll be as excited as anybody else to see it,” he said to WTTW News in Chicago.

Elden Ring is now scheduled to release on February 25, 2022, and will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. A closed network test took place from November 12 until November 15, and while reviews were highly positive, the experience was somewhat marred by scalpers selling keys for hundreds of dollars online. A new story trailer for the game was revealed during The Game Awards 2021.
