Halo Infinite Disc Reportedly Doesn’t Include The Full Game

December 7, 2021 by Dennis Patrick

Players might have to download a portion of the game.

One of the most anticipated exclusives from Xbox is gearing up for its big release. Halo Infinite is nearly upon us, but you might have a surprise. Unfortunately, those of you who wanted to own the game on a single disc might be disappointed. A new report that has gone out online suggests that there is a problem with the game being too large. Apparently, Halo Infinite might be too large to contain on a disc. As a result, players that pick up a physical copy may have to download a portion of the game as well.

There are quite a few hefty games out there. These massive titles take up quite a bit of space, so it might not be a surprise to see more games requiring a download. We are gearing up for the launch of Halo Infinite tomorrow. After enduring a delay of over a year, players will soon finally get a chance to try out the game. A tweet by John Linneman from Eurogamer and Digital Foundry reveals that Halo Infinite requires a download outside of a single disc.

My biggest complaint regarding Halo Infinite really is that the disc doesn't contain a playable game. This'll be the first Halo game you can't really own as a standalone copy. This is not a good trend and I hope MS reconsiders things like this.

That might be some terrible news to hear if you’re after this game without a decent internet connection. Likewise, that also means that there might not be the ability to keep this game exclusively to your physical copy. Years down the road, you’ll need to rely on a download available to enjoy the campaign. It would seem like we’re moving more towards a digital-focus age. That is a bummer if you enjoy your physical copies and play whenever you want.

Of course, there’s always the chance that games that are too big for one disc could be split up on multiple discs. We have seen this method quite often in the past. Developers would deliver games across several discs in order to include all of the content planned. Halo Infinite will be releasing tomorrow, December 8, 2021, for the PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
