Elden Ring Might Not Feature A Pause Menu

November 8, 2021 by Dennis Patrick

Players will need to pay attention to their surroundings at all times.

Elden Ring is one of the most anticipated video game titles coming out in 2022. This is the next big video game from the folks over at FromSoftware. Of course, the development studio name should be familiar to you. This is the studio that delivered the Dark Souls and Bloodborne franchises. We have been waiting on Elden Ring for a few years now, and we’re getting closer to that fabled release date.

Regardless, no matter how close we get to that release date, a flood of rumors and speculation pieces hit the web on what to expect from this game. We are, much like you, navigating through the different leaks, rumors, and speculation pieces. However, the lack of a pause menu suggestion circulating online might catch some newcomers to FromSoftware games attention. Almost every game that’s not some form of an MMO has a pause menu. It’s pretty standard, for those moments you need to stop the game. Although, it looks like you can’t expect that from Elden Ring.

Whether you’re playing solo or not, there is a lack of a pause. Players have started to notice the gameplay footage available showcases a transparent menu screen. With this screen, players can manage their inventory or look at useful information. Meanwhile, they’ll also be able to see what’s going on in the in-game world. For some, this might be a thrilling experience knowing that at any moment, you’ll need to whip back into the game.

With that said, there’s an equal chance that some players might find the lack of a pause menu a game killer. Additionally, the fact that there’s no escape from your character running into danger could sway some players from even picking up the game. Still, being a FromSoftware game, it’s expected to have some challenging and brutal gameplay moments. Currently, Elden Ring comes out on February 25, 2022. When the game releases, you can pick it up on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
