Street Fighter V is Skipping Xbox One, Going for PS4 and PC Only

May 8, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

The upcoming fighting game from Capcom is expected to sell 2 million copies, but is skipping the Xbox One.

With Street Fighter IV being a colossal success for Capcom, there should be little surprise that the studio has been quietly working on yet another sequel to the series, in the form of Street Fighter V.

The publisher has confirmed that Street Fighter V will be released on the PlayStation 4 and PC this financial year, and they expect it to sell at least two million units across both platforms by March 31, 2016.

What’s interesting to note is that the game will be skipping a release on the Xbox One in favor of the PC and PS4 only. This isn’t the only game to do so in recent times. Could this be a sign that the Xbox One isn’t as great as Microsoft hoped it would be?

Capcom also confirmed plans to release more titles in “popular game series” during the current financial year, though it did not disclose what those games were, beyond Street Fighter V. There’s a good chance that they could be referring to Dragon’s Dogma Online–though that’s only been confirmed for Japan, at least for now.

At this point in time, it is unknown whether Street Fighter V will be out before the end of the year or come out at some point in early 2016. We can only hope it’s the latter, as they’ll have a tough time going head to head against the likes of Mortal Kombat X this year.

We can look forward to seeing more details about the fighting game at E3 this year, where Capcom is expected to make an appearance.
