MCV reports that two million PlayStation 4 consoles have been sold in the UK to date.
Unsurprisingly, the PS4 is also the fastest selling console in the UK so far this year, and Sony reached this milestone faster than it did with the PlayStation 2 – the best selling console of all time.
“Reaching the milestone of two million PlayStation 4 consoles in the UK in less than 18 months is an achievement we are very proud of,” PlayStation’s UK boss Fergal Gara commented.
“To be the best selling 'next generation' console in Britain – installing faster even than the PlayStation 2 – is testament to an amazing and constantly improving product, the hard work of our trade partners and the team at PlayStation UK, and most importantly, the passion of the players. I would like to thank every one involved in helping us achieve this landmark."
PS4 sales hit the one million mark after 42 weeks on sale and has reached two million after 75 weeks.
Sony recently confirmed that they have sold 22.3 million PS4s worldwide and expect to sell another 16 million by March 31st, 2016. The PS4's success has also seen Sony Computer Entertainment become Sony's biggest revenue source.
