Halo 5: Guardians Won’t Offer Invasion Mode, But Other Modes Are Forthcoming

May 4, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

343 will unveil new modes for Halo 5 soon.

The makers of Halo 5: Guardians at 343 Industries have confirmed via their studio's chief Josh Holmes that the upcoming game will not see the return of Invasion mode.

In Invasion mode, which first appeared in Halo Reach, two teams of six players (6v6) comprised of Elites and Spartans went up against each other to steal the other team's power core while defending their own. The mode, while not hugely popular compared to other modes in the game, offered some additional diversity to the game's multiplayer, which was, and remains, largely comprised of shooting people for points.

Unfortunately for anyone who was a fan of the mode, it will not be making a return in the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians. Here's what Holmes said in response to a question that asked simply, "Invasion?":

No Invasion but more to come on larger scale MP. Stay tuned!

Sadface emojis all around.

Halo 5: Guardians is slated for release on October 27, 2015 for the Xbox One.
