Rumor: Watch Dogs 2 Active Development Confirmed In LinkedIn Profile

April 30, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Ubisoft had previously indicated eagerness to make the game a franchise.

This should come as no surprise, but the first tangible proof that Watch Dogs 2 is in active development has been revealed.

Ubisoft Paris senior gameplay programmer Julien Risse has listed the sequel alongside the original and the Bad Blood DLC in his LinkedIn profile. The listing gives no indication of when production on the sequel started, but it does indicated Julien has basically been working on the IP exclusively for his entire career with Ubisoft, since December 2013.

In spite of repeated delays, Ubisoft was optimistic on Watch Dogs and its potential to be the company’s next big IP. Fortunately for Ubisoft, the game proved to be a hit, shipping 10 million units since December 2014.

In fact, last E3 Ubisoft senior vice president Tom Key declared that the game was already officially a franchise. At that point, Key intimated that Ubisoft would then have to come up with something entertaining and innovative to come next.
