The Simpsons Comes to Minecraft on PlayStation

April 27, 2015 by Stephen Daly

And Mojang adds female playable avatar Alex.

The Simpsons have arrived in Minecraft on PlayStation this week, bringing a host of familiar faces and locations from Springfield to the game.

While Microsoft's consoles get such theme packs first, not surprising given they own the game, The Simpsons is the latest pack to make it to PlayStation after Mass Effect and more are on their way.

On the PlayStation Blog, Mojang's Owen Hill announced that a new playable character is to be added to the game. Woman avatar Alex has eight different variations – the same as Steve, the original player character.

“We like Steve as much as the next crafter, but he doesn’t really represent the diversity of our player base,” Mojang’s Owen Hill wrote. “That’s why we’ve introduced Alex — she has slightly thinner arms than Steve, but plays exactly the same way as he does.”

Both updates will be released this week and while Alex will be free, you'll need to pay for The Simpsons skins. While the price hasn't been confirmed yet, it's likely to be $2.99, the same as Xbox.
