Rainbow Six Siege May Be Getting a Digital Only Release on PC

April 21, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

The PC version of the game will only be getting a digital release.

The upcoming squad-based FPS from Ubisoft, Rainbow Six Siege, will be a digital-only title in the United Kingdom, at least for the PC version.

Retailer ShopTo has learned that the PC version of the game will only be available digitally, via the usual platforms (Steam, Ubishop, etc.) and will not be available at retail, except for the Collector's Edition. The standard edition will be skipping discs and will go straight to digital.

The development follows Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment' recent reveal that Batman: Arkham Knight will only be released digitally on the PC.

The development is an unsurprising one given that digital releases are becoming more and more prominent. We fully expect other games to follow suit, eventually ditching retail entirely, at least on the PC.

At this point, it is not known whether the US and rest of Europe will be affected by the decision to release the PC version of the game only on digital platforms.
