Bungie Shifts Gears with Crimson: Steam Pirates for iPad

Bungie is shifting gears with the announcement of a new game called Crimson: Steam Pirates. Developed by Harebrained Schemes with the support of Bungie Aerospace, the game is set to be an iPad-only strategy title with a Steampunk aesthetic.

Set for release next week—September 1—on the App Store, Crimson: Steam Pirates puts players in the role of a buccaneer in the first chapter of a story spanning over 8 missions. The game will be offered as a free download, with subsequent chapters for sale at $1.99 each.

The game will also include "pass-and-play" multiplayer scenarios, multiple ship types, and crew members with their own abilities and stats.
