You Can Fly a Helicopter in Cities: Skylines With This Mod

April 6, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

It’s just like SimCopter.

SimCopter was one of the games many of us played while growing up. Unlike any other game on the market—and any game to date (until now!), the helicopter simulator by Maxis allowed us to fly through the cities we lovingly built in SimCity 2000.

A new mod, currently in development for Cities: Skylines invites us to rekindle our love affair with SimCopter by allowing players to fly through cities in the game. It's called CityCopter.

Developed by InconsolableCellist on Reddit (who also goes by Nisquity on YouTube), the mod lets players fly a helicopter within their cities after building a helipad and hangar holding the vehicle. It even has Oculus Rift support.

If you're interested in seeing the development of the mod in progress, just head on over to r/CityCopter on reddit.

Had this mod been developed sooner, it would have definitely made it on our top ten list of must-have mods for Cities: Skylines.

Now all someone needs to do is to create Streets of SimCity in the game.
