PS4 Sells 1,143,542 Units in Opening Year in Japan

The console is still selling strong.

In an anniversary that may have passed you by, Sony celebrated the Playstation 4's first year of life in Japan on February 22. According to data taken from Media Create, the console has sold 1,143,542 in its debut year. While this might look like it pales in comparison to sales made through western audiences, it's important to remember that Japan is a much smaller country. These sales numbers are actually extremely good.

Here's to hoping the Playstation 4 celebrates many more anniversaries surrounded by such positive news. The Playstation 4 will be celebrating its two-year anniversary in both Europe and North America in November later this year.
