Star Wars Battlefront 3: Carrying Over Battlefield Community Features, Respawn On Board?

February 24, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

We take on some rumors and speculation on the game.

We have a new video regarding Star Wars Battlefront courtesy Star Wars HQ, whom you can subscribe to on YouTube here.

DICE sibling Respawn recently announced that they have split up the team. While the bigger team continues to work on Titanfall, including development on the coming sequel, a second smaller team, headed by Stig Asmussen, is working on an unannounced project. Of course, this could be work on Battlefront, specifically, its online systems. Titanfall was criticized for its matchmaking, but to its credit, it hasn’t gone offline since launch.

Our source also brought up two community initiatives in Battlefield 4 that DICE could carry over to Star Wars Battlefront.

The Community Test Environment has been setup as a privilege for Battlefield’s premium subscribers. They get to try out new maps, weapons, etc. well in advance, but of course, they do so as partial beta testers. For Star Wars fans, having such a feature would be tantamount to them getting the opportunity any new content for the game would be up to snuff, and canon.

The Community Map Project is very similar, but surprisingly radical. DICE is encouraging fans to give them maps completely from scratch, this time with an emphasis on fan created content. As is the case with pretty much anything, it’s something Star Wars fans would love to have on hand to recreate key scenes in the canon down to every brick.

Star Wars Battlefront will be released in late 2015 for Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
