Dying Light is Getting a Hard Mode Next Month

February 12, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

Hard Mode is coming to Dying Light in March.

Polish developer Techland has announced plans to extend the longevity of its recently released first-person-action game with zombies, Dying Light, with the release of a new difficulty mode.

The newly announced hard mode is part of a series of free expansions for the game, and is set to add more difficult nighttime scenarios, and more challenging opponents. In addition, players will find fewer resources and supplies to scavenge. Due to the game’s increased difficulty level, players will find value in staying hidden and keeping quiet.

"A few gamers have already finished Dying Light and are asking for more. So we're going to give our community a new challenge that will put everything they learnt in the game to the test. Hard Mode is exactly that," Dying Light producer Tymon Smektala said. "We're aiming to have it out around the start of March, if not sooner. Depends on how brutal we wanna make this on people."

Beyond the new difficulty mode, Dying Light’s March update will introduce a host of new goodies for players, including character outfits and improvements. The update will be available for free on the PC, Xbox One and PS4.

Techland has announced plans to release official modding tools for the PC, and has a series of paid DLC also in the works.

If you don’t want to wait until March to play with the new difficulty, you can download a newly released mod for the PC that makes the game harder.
