Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is landing next month, and many 3DS owners are excited. However, fans who enjoyed Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on Wii U continue to be disappointed at the lack of Wii U version of the fourth game. I mean, the "U" is already in the title! It's the perfect fit! Can we get a straight answer?
Nintendo Life recently got that straight answer during an interview with executive producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and creative director Kaname Fujioka. When asked about Wii U's exclusion, Tsujimoto said:
One of the key features of the Wii U version was online multiplayer, and this time we have been able to implement online multiplayer on the 3DS so you can play local matches when you're out and about or when you have a Wi-Fi connection you can play online, so we felt that the 3DS version was complete as it was with this feature set.
That makes sense purely from a utility standpoint, but it still sucks for those who don't enjoy playing on handhelds or simply prefer their monster hunting on a big screen. Despite what it described as "soft" sales, Capcom was clearly happy with 3U's performance on Wii U. Seems like a port of 4U could have been easy money.
Oh well. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate arrives for 3DS on February 13.
