Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. Uses Fire Emblem amiibo, Marth amiibo Getting Restocked

January 14, 2015 by Tony Ponce

Crisis averted?

Nintendo anounced that the upcoming 3DS strategy RPG, Code Name: S.T.E.A.M., will have special amiibo functionality. The steampunk alternate history adventure, in which Abraham Lincoln recruits his own version of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, is being developed by Fire Emblem studio Intelligent Systems, so it makes sense that the compatible amiibo would all come from Fire Emblem.

Marth, Ike, and the newly announced Robin and Lucina can be used as playable characters, complete with their signature weapons from their home series. You'll tap them onto the New 3DS touch screen (or regular 3DS amiibo portal) in order to make them appear in the game. Should they fall, you'll have to tap the screen again before the start of the next battle.

Of course, the elephant in the room is the scarcity of certain amiibo figurines. Ike, Robin, and Lucina have yet to arrive, so we don't yet know how tough it will be to get our hands on them (probably pretty tough), but Marth is complete absent. Thankfully, Nintendo's Bill Trinen assured us during today's Direct that Marth will be getting restocked pretty soon. If you don't have him yet, don't let this chance slip by you again!

Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. will hit 3DS on March 13.
