Earth Defense Force 4.1 Brings A Giant Spider Mech Invasion

January 5, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

The Depth Charger adds a fun new way to squash bugs – by becoming one yourself.

Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair still has a few months to go before release in Japan, but D3 Publisher already has a few teasers scheduled for what you can look forward to in the next game.

This time, players get to be the wall crawlers, thanks to the Depth Charger, a four legged tank that can cling to walls. The Depth Charger adds more for you to do, as it comes equipped with huge headlights for you to find your way in the deep, dark tunnels of the giant ant colonies you are going to take out.

This represents a major change in the tunnels, whereas before they were conveniently and inexplicably well lit.

You won’t be able to use the headlights during the day, but you will also get the chance to use the Depth Charger out in the open. It really is a giant spider mech invasion in the city when the troops bring them out.

Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair will release for PlayStation 4 in Japan on April 2.
